Jaguar XK120 Roadster/Jaguar XK120 Coupe

When a friend told me about these 2 Jaguars, I got really excited. He told me the owner had "stored" them for over 30 years. He wasn't ready to sell but my friend suggested I talk to him anyway.

This turned out to be one of those disappointing finds. These two XK120s had been stored outside like this, half buried in the dirt for way too long. Had they been inside, neither one of them would have deteriorated to such a sorry state.

The engine to this FHC was in Northern California on the owner's other property (the cars were in Southern CA). A lot of the trim pieces had been stolen in the early 1980's. There were no seats, and no dash, only a couple of the gauges. It had wire wheels on the rear and solid wheels on the front.

This XK120 OTS had original upholstery that had turned to dust. It had very little rust on the right side, but the left side was badly rusted due to being buried in the mud. The entire left side of the car was literally 6 inches underground. When I first saw these Jags, I wanted so badly to rescue them, but his dream of fixing them up was still alive. I pestered this guy for years but he wasn't ready to let them go. Then one Christmas he called me up to tell me had a little something for me-he was ready to sell! I got the cars out of there and in to safe keeping just before their 31st spring rainy season. The best part of this whole thing - he also had a 1956 Jaguar XK140 DHC that was actually stored in a half way decent manner, but that's another story......
